As a licensed
patent agent (USPTO
Reg. No. 57,418),
I prepare, file,
and prosecute your patent applications with the United States
Patent And Trademark Office (USPTO).
In April of 2006 I commenced employment
with a highly regarded Washington, DC boutique intellectual property
law firm. I currently provide patent drafting and prosecution services
under
the auspices
of
the firm.
NOTE: The law firm is not identified
here because the firm is not affiliated with Oppenheimer Communications,
and I wish to avoid any suggestions of association which might
be implied by placing the name of the firm on these Web pages.
However, for potential clients contacting me directly regarding
patent services, we can explore whether the services of the law
firm would be suitable for your needs.
- How experienced are you in the patent
field?
At the time of this update to this page (January 2008), I am approaching
two years of experience in drafting patents and prosecuting prior-filed
patent
applications
— plus, of course, close to twenty years of prior experience
as a technical writer.
- What services can you provide?
A patent applications has several parts,
but chiefly the abstract, disclosure (detailed description),
claims, diagrams, and a few other optional components.
I am increasingly experienced at drafting all aspects of
an application, having drafted somewhere around two dozen
applications in the past eighteen months. (One quickly starts
to lose
count!)
In addition, I have filed replies to dozens
of office actions (correspondence from the United States
Patent and Trademark Office) regarding patents for inventions
in the fields of software, electronics, signal processing,
communications
systems, and business method patents. Some of these replies have
involved extensive redrafting of claims sets that were not
satisfactory to begin with.
